Good Ideas / References…

First things first – if you’re reading this, you’re welcome to drop in for our Monday evening peer review tonight at 6pm. A movie may follow, depending on projector availability…

After Thursday’s crit, with both Shaun’s and Stuart Munroe’s groups, there were a lot of great conversations at the bar. I had a lot of interesting ideas that I wanted to mention to people – so I’ll mention them here quickly, so they get mentioned. But I don’t want to take too much time away from my work… But these are the sources that resonated with me.

Folding Architecture by Sophia Vysivoti
The Sacred and the Profane by Mircea Eliade

Subtopia’s stuff about tunnels.
Mary-Ann Ray’s Seven Partly Underground Rooms and Buildings for Water, Ice, and Midgets
and Sleepycity.

Pinhole photography – a tangible way to take the concepts of the camera obscura and apply them to an artifact that can be taken away with you. Especially brings to mind double-exposing pinhole photography, as an overlay of two representations of space.
And if you don’t have time or can’t get access to the facilities downstairs at the Bartlett for some reason, look at Polaroid pinhole photography.

And of course, forthcoming is a post on where my ideas are right now.
